Exploration is a full time job, men can spend whole life but cant explore the world completely, even its too difficult to know the brass tacks of success.

15 January 2013 was my most memorable day when I met the Vice Chancellor of two well known universities of Karachi, i.e, Karachi University and Federal Urdu University of Science, Arts & Technology, Yes, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser  He's well known as the most intellectual brilliant brain in higher education commission and varsity circles, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser is too busy person as hes simultaneously executing two big universities of Pakistan as a Vice Chancellor.

Interview of new VC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser by an Alumni of DACCTSaad Abdul Wahab HOD HSE Indus Pharma (Pvt) Ltd.
This meeting was for making the documentary of my University Department, Applied Chemistry & Chemical Technology, I made this documentary officially for the very 1st time in 2011 during the mega Event of Projects Expo PACE 2011, as I was being nominated as the MEDIA MANAGER exclusively for the coverage of this mega event. Then, I was the student of BS final year in Petroleum Specialization.

This documentary was first presented at the occasion of inauguration ceremony of a Mega Event Projects Expo "PACE 2011" and then DACCT department adopted this beautiful tradition of presenting this documentary to the new comers on their 1st day of orientation in order to welcome the new comers warmly as well as to introduce them with the unique academic and competent environment of Applied Chemistry Department.

1st presentation of Documentary on 22nd Oct 2011, in the inauguration ceremony of PACE 2011 at the auditorium of DACCT - KU
VC of KU & FUUAST Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser with Saad Abdul Wahab and Chairman DACCT , Dr. Mehdi Hasan Kazmi

And then, it became a tradition of our department to welcome the new comers with the documentary presentation on the 1st day of orientation.

15th January was the day when I was been called by the Chairman of my Ex University Department Dr. Mehdi Hasan Kazmi  for the interviews of new VICE CHANCELLOR Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser. Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of Faculty Science Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi. These are undeniably the big names of University of Karachi.

VC appreciating the efforts of DACCT Faculty members.
Informal discussion before interview
Department of Applied Chemistry & Chemical Technology. is a unique department as the culture of Applied Sciences in Pakistan has abolished almost 30 years ago and hence this is the only department in Pakistan which is producing Applied Chemists and Chemical Technologists for the industrial renaissance in Pakistan, as the course of 4 years BS degree includes all technologies and industrial applications that are directly or circuitously linked with the field of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, hence making a student alrounder for all tasks relating laboratory testing, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Production, Plant Design Engineering, Unit process, Unit Operation, Research & Development, Corporate Quality, Compliance, Chemical Marketing, Industrial Pollution abatement and various other relevant areas, even Physical technology covers the instrumentation side in respect of instrument and process analyzer calibration.

Applied Chemistry Department offers final year specialization technologies in Petroleum, Pharmaceutical, Textile, Metallurgy, Polymer, Inorganic, Food Science and Physical Technology. During the whole academic period of BS Applied Chemistry, the courses designed for this program are more than enough to understand and even leading entrepreneurship  As our final year project is completely designed to prepare a student in all aspects of entrepreneurship from site inspection, project feasibility  raw material, cost estimation, material and energy balance, complete industrial economics involving capital investment, factory overhead, break even point analysis, process controls, marketing and business communication strategies.

Applied chemistry in essence, the education of industrial chemistry & the study of industrial innovation, an Applied Chemist is a chemist, engineer, technologist & expert of his field in all aspects of 360 degrees. As mentioned earlier that the main aim of Applied Chemistry Department is to provide skilled professionals to the Chemical & correlated heavy material Industries so as to improve the quality of living of earthlings to serve humanity.

For this purpose the student of BS applied chemistry appears in more than 30 exams in a semester by means of Quiz, Midterms, Viva & Performance exams, Terminal theory exams, Presentations, Assignments and Projects etc. This schematic is more than enough to prepare a competent graduate. Sometimes it seems a burden but in fact after going through this 4 years period our senior graduates of applied chemistry are successfully performing their jobs with passion & devotion at key positions in various industries.

Applied Chemists are very much at the forefront of working to improve the quality of our lives. Consequently Industrial Chemistry is a challenging and fascinating profession with extensive career opportunities. As an Appliedian you will combine a detailed knowledge of chemistry with an understanding of engineering principles in order to design, construct and operate chemical process plants. In addition to the traditional oil and chemical-based industries you will be well equipped to go into a wide range of careers including food production, pollution control, environmental protection, energy conservation, waste recovery and recycling, medical science, water treatment plants, health and safety, alternative energy sources, resource conservation, research & development, management and consultancy.

University of Karachi deserves for acclamation tribute where departments of Applied Sciences & Technologies are providing skilled appliedians to the society, under the supervision of qualified and experienced governess. I urge and recommend Govt. of Pakistan by using the channel of my department (Applied chemistry & chemical Technology. University of Karachi) Govt. should introduce some industrial reforms forth with, so as to increase & maximize the job opportunities with handsome salary packages to facilitate and improve the living of engineers, researchers & scientists, with the intention that all brilliant brains which have drained abroad in search of jobs & glitter privileges, could return back to their homeland, with new ideas and experiences. In fact, a massive capital is required, but only once. Although it would be a tough job but this milestone can be a beginning of new era and herald of economic renaissance & industrial revolution in Pakistan. As we are not able to sustain more crises, we should learn from Malaysia,Japan, China and our traditional rival India, else there is a blind abyss of crises after crises; status-quo can send us back to the Stone Age. So Govt. will have to take such measures, to be an uncaptivable competent in the race of Sciences & Technology. Being a patriotic Pakistani and Applied Chemist, I am very optimistic regarding potentials of Pakistan. May Almighty Allah bestow us the apex of glory, so that no one could cast evil eye on our sovereignty. But remember, God helps those, who help themselves. It’s a moment to look forward & to dig up salvation from the self imposed vicissitudes of fortune. --- (so be it)
