Title: Transparency needed
2nd Letter to CEC Pakistan
2nd Letter to CEC
Dated: Feb 05'2013
Dear CEC Pakistan,
Fakharuddin G. Ebrahim,
Thank you for your immediate response, but my complain is still there for which I would like to draw your attention towards a basic problem that is leading to deteriorate the trust of Voters from ECP.
Sir, I have lot of expectations from ECP when you took the oath as CEC on 23 July 2012. As you are a retired Associate Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, and Senior Advocate Supreme Court and known as a peace activist. You also served as the interim Law Minister from 18 July 1993 until 19 October 1993, and interim Justice Minister from 5 November 1996 until 17 February 1997. I know you were the Attorney General of Pakistan during the government of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and served as his close legal adviser throughout the 1970s. In 1988, you were also Governor of Sindh, appointed by the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto during her first term.
Providentially, In response of my yesterdays "LETTER to CEC", a team of Election Commission Pakistan came to my home today (Feb 05' 2013) at around 1:00PM in order to ensure that the immediate corrective measures have been taken against my complains, which is undeniably appreciable.
When I told them about the procedure they are following to verify the voter lists doesn't meet the Articles 2391, 218, 219, 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan, their reply was revealing to me..
The ECP Supervisor for "DEFENCE & CLIFTON AREAS" told me that
1) - "ECP personnel for verification of Voter lists is only allowed to use CHALKS and PENCILS for data entry"
2) - Rangers and Army will only deployed for some politically seized NO-GO Areas of Interior Sind.
I dont have any issue with the performance of your team, my complain is directly against the procedure you defined for the Verification. ECP should review to comply the procedures with the constitution of Pakistan, at the earliest.
Being a responsible citizen of Karachi, I Condemn the procedure of Election Commission Pakistan which has been designed for Verification of existing controversial Voter Lists, I protest against this violation of Article 62 and 63, as the ECP is a democratic institution and nobody can expect or tolerate any Corrupt Practice implemented by ECP.
Moreover, you must remember that the controversy of Voter Lists is mainly an issue of KARACHI, not of INTERIOR SIND.
Thanks
SAAD ABDUL WAHAB
A responsible citizen.
